Vehicle Turn Signals in SEV BIA

The LRT will run down the middle of a widened Sheppard Avenue. Tram cars (about twice the size of a streetcar) will use electric power and run on slightly elevated tracks. Cars and trucks will only be able to cross the LRT tracks at turn signals that will be installed at locations along the Sheppard East LRT route.

Access in and out of all driveways and businesses will be by right turn only.  Drivers on the opposite side of the LRT tracks will go past their destination; make a “U-Turn” at the next turn signal; and go back to where they wanted to go.

Midland, Glen Watford, Brimley, Brownspring McCowan, 4725 Sheppard, Shorting, Massie, Scunthorpe, Markham

Stop lights will be controlled by the tram cars and they will not be held up by drivers making left or “U” turns. To help achieve more rapid transit, stops will be built about every 400 metres – with platforms on the far side of the intersection / stoplight.

Midland, Brimley, Brownspring, McCowan, 4725 Sheppard, Shorting/Havenview, Massie, Markham

The LRT will join with the Sheppard Subway (underground) at Don Mills – giving SEV BIA a direct connection to the Yonge/University Subway. The LRT will also intersect with the expanded Scarborough RT near Progress Avenue – providing a direct connection to the Bloor/Danforth Subway. Our community will be easily accessible to customers and visitors coming from all other parts of the city by transit.
